Navy fan connectors come is a variety of sizes to fit both round or circular or rectangular navy fans. These connectors are typically made from a mil-spec neoprene rubber known as Mil-R-6855 or MIL-PRF-6855. The full fan connector material specification uses polyester fabric-reinforced Mil-R-6855, Cl2, Gr 40 Neoprene rubber. Navy fan connectors can be supplied with metal retaining rings to support fastening to the navy fan.
NAVY FAN CONNECTORS
Navy fan connectors are specialized duct joints design to fit fans & blowers used on US Navy ships & vessels. Used aboard all types of U.S. Navy vessels, navy fan connectors are lightweight mil-spec neoprene rubber connectors and are used to isolate vaneaxial type fans against ventilation ductwork. They also absorb noise and vibration throughout the ship created by the fan system.
Fan Applications:
Cooling Systems: Fans are often used in cooling systems for electronic devices, computers, industrial equipment, and more.
Vibration Dampening: Rubber components can help absorb vibrations, which is beneficial in fan applications where minimizing vibration is important for both performance and longevity.
Features of Rubber Fan Connectors:
Flexibility: Rubber connectors may offer flexibility, making them suitable for applications where movement or vibration is present.
Environmental Resistance: Rubber is known for its resistance to certain environmental factors, including moisture, chemicals, and temperature variations.
Sealing Properties: Rubber materials can provide sealing properties, which might be useful in preventing the ingress of dust or moisture into the connector.
Considerations in Design:
Durability: Connectors, especially those used in industrial or demanding environments, need to be durable to ensure a long lifespan.
Temperature Range: Depending on the application, connectors may need to function within a specific temperature range, and rubber materials should be selected accordingly.
Electrical Properties: Connectors should meet electrical standards and requirements, ensuring reliable electrical connections.
Industry Standards:
Military Standards: In most naval applications, connectors may need to meet military standards (MIL-STD) for performance and reliability. Mil-PRF-6855 is commonly used in navy fan connectors.
International Standards: Connectors may also adhere to international standards set by organizations like the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) or the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
